Valparaiso's men's swim team dropped its final double-dual meet of the season on Saturday afternoon in Chicago, Ill. The Crusaders lost 195-39 to Cleveland State and 179-51 to the host Flames of Illinois-Chicago.
Colin Simpson (Rockford, Ill./Auburn H.S.) posted Valpo's top finish on the afternoon, finishing in third place in the 200 backstroke. He touched the wall in 2:04.63. David Peterson (Schereville, Ind./Highland H.S.) also finished in the top-five in the event, placing fifth with a time of 2:05.57.
Peterson also finished fourth in the 200 individual medley, turning in a time of 2:01.96.
Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) finished fifth in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:51.11, while Keith Aumend (Lake Worth, Fla./Wellington H.S.) earned the same place in the 500 free (5:03.90).
Valpo (2-8) will conclude its season February 19-21 at the Midwest Classic Championships to be held in Indianapolis, Ind. and hosted by IUPUI.
