Two school records fell Wednesday at the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Freshman Brian Wasicak (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) hit the wall at 9:42.07 in the 1000 yard freestyle, good for 10th place overall and a new school record.

The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard), Matt King (Clinton, Ill./Clinton), Frederick Jenny (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), Kyle Braun (McHenry, Ill./West) also set a new school record with a seventh-place 1:24.31 result. 

The women's 200 yard freestyle relay squad of Emily Trimpe (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine), Ciara Lightner (Dixon, Ill./Dixon), Lauren Knop (Geneva, Ill./Geneva), and Erin McBride (St. Louis, Mo./Webster Groves) stopped the clock at 1:38.83 in their heat, earning them an eighth-place finish.

Senior Andrea Bretl (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) captured 18th place in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 10:50.09 time. 

Lightner, Makenna Cannon (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine), Knop and Trimpe combined to finish the 200 yard medley relay in 1:49.52.

Meanwhile, the men's 200 yard medley relay team of King, Jenny, Gonzalo Castro Diaz (Mexico City, Mexico), and Wegehaupt hit the wall at 1:34.39.

The Valpo women's team is in 8th place with 44 points after day one. Milwaukee (112), Oakland (109), and Cleveland State (104) are all in a tight race for the top spot.

On the men's side, the Crusaders' 55 points puts them in 7th place. Oakland is in first place with 136 points.

The action resumes tomorrow at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium in Cleveland.
