2008-2009: Competed in sprint freestyle events as a sophomore ... posted a career-best mark of 24.96 in the 50 free at the Horizon League Championships ... also turned in personal bests of 54.01 in the 100 free and 2:03.37 in the 200 free ... named to the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.

2007-2008: Competed in all three freestyle sprint events as a freshman ... had a season’s best time of 1:03.07 in the 100 free and 1:11.70 in the 100 breaststroke at the Horizon League Championships ... voted team’s Most Improved Swimmer.

Prep: Swam freestyle for two seasons for Acamis Swim, a local club team ... an AP scholar with distinction ... also played volleyball.

Personal: James is the son of Huaile Shang and Peizhn Lu ... majors are marketing and international business ... born November 26, 1989.
