Luis Galvan was named an assistant coach for Valparaiso’s swimming and diving program during the summer of 2011. He assists with all day-to-day operations of the team, including practice, administrative duties, and travel.
Galvan was an assistant coach for the Fort Lauderdale Aquatics Club from 2008 through 2011. There he coaches swimmers of all levels, from beginners up through national qualifiers. He also was their summer international camp coordinator.
A competitive swimmer for 16 years, Galvan participated in state, national, and international competitions in both the United States and in Mexico. He was a medalist in the 2008 Mexican Olympic Trials, and also qualified for the meet in 2004.
A Mexican national qualifier, Galvan also swam at the 2007 United States Summer National Championships.
Galvan is a 2007 graduate of Anahuac University of Xalapa in Veracruz, Mexico with a degree in information systems engineering.
