Valparaiso’s men’s tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2011-2012 schedule on Friday afternoon with doubles play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships held at the Varsity Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Valparaiso University’s men’s tennis team had all three competitors register victories in the opening round of the qualifying draw at the ITA Regionals for the first time in program history on Thursday in Columbus, Ohio.

Chris Baum (Charlotte, N.C./Providence H.S.) has advanced to the semifinals of the main draw in singles and joins Adam Whitmer (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview H.S.) in the doubles championship while Michael Woodson (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft H.S.) and Egan Hart (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft H.S.) are both in the consolation draw semifinals following day two of play at the Wright State/Dayton Fall Shootout held at Thomas Cloud Park in Dayton, Ohio.

Valparaiso went 4-4 in singles play and one of the Crusaders’ doubles teams advanced to the semifinals on Friday as the Brown and Gold opened play at the Wright State/Dayton Fall Shootout. A portion of the matches were played outdoors at Thomas Cloud Park before rain forced play indoors at the South Regency Tennis Club.

The middle day of play at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic in Peoria, Ill. featured four doubles matches as well as a singles contest for Valparaiso University as the Crusaders continued action in their season-opening tournament.
