Valpo Falls to Stetson 6-1

The Valparaiso men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to Stetson on Monday afternoon in Stetson, Fla. as part of the team's spring trip.

The Crusaders took just one of the three doubles contests to begin the match. Ben Dunham-Freer (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Jeff Vrabel (Allen Park, Mich./St. Francis Cabrini H.S.) teamed for a 9-8 victory at first doubles after winning the tie-breaker 7-4. The Hatters took both second and third doubles for the first point.

In singles play, Tyler Neemann (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson H.S.) rallied after dropping the first set 6-1 at fourth singles to post a 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory for the Brown and Gold's lone point.

Jay Adams (Detroit, Mich./Andover H.S.) was involved in Valpo's other close match, dropping a pair of tie-breaks in his 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) defeat.

The Crusaders (0-6) will return to action on Wednesday when Valparaiso heads to Bethune-Cookman for a noon CST contest.
