Valpo Swept by Wisconsin-Green Bay

The Valparaiso men's tennis team was swept by Wisconsin-Green Bay 7-0 on Friday afternoon at Matchpoint Tennis Center.

The Phoenix won all three doubles matches to earn the first point. Ben Dunham-Freer (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands H.S.) and Jeff Vrabel (Allen Park, Mich./St. Francis Cabrini H.S.) teamed for the closest match, an 8-6 loss at the top spot.

In singles action, Wisconsin-Green Bay won all six matches in straight sets. Vrabel was again involved in a tight match, falling 6-4, 6-4 at second singles, while Chris Widmeyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Archibishop Moeller H.S.) fell 7-5, 6-2 at third singles.

The Crusaders will return to the courts on Saturday when they host Cleveland State at 9 a.m. and Youngstown State at 1 p.m.
