Valparaiso University will play host to five other schools at the 2007 Valpo Tennis Classic this Friday and Saturday at the Valpo Tennis Complex.

Horizon League foes Green Bay, UIC, and Youngstown State will all battle in the event along with Toledo and IPFW.  There are three singles flights with 16 players each and three doubles flights of eight teams each in the event.

Play will begin with doubles on Friday morning at 10 a.m. with two rounds of singles to follow.  On Saturday, doubles action will get under way at 9 a.m. with two rounds of singles and as well as the championship round of doubles.

“I am very excited about hosting our own tournament,” Valpo head coach Jim Daugherty said.  “This will give us a glimpse of some of the Horizon League schools we will face this year.  The level of competition looks to be stronger this year and this should be an exciting event for the players and spectators.”
