Savaglio to Represent Midwest Section in the World Team Tennis Nationals

Valparaiso University incoming freshman tennis player Michael Savagio (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford H.S.) has been selected as one of three boys from the Midwest Section of the United States Tennis Association to compete in the 17th Annual World Team Tennis Junior Nationals.

The event, which will take place July 31 through Aug. 2 in San Diego, Calif., is a premier national junior invitational event featuring 16 co-ed teams from throughout the United States.  The teams, comprised of three boys and three girls, will use the WTT format during the three days of competition.  Team matches consist of eight events; with two sets each of boy’s singles, girl’s singles, one set of boy’s and girl’s doubles, and two sets of mixed doubles.

Rick Vetter, a USPTA Master Professional, has been selected as the coach of the USTA/Midwest Section.

Savagio will begin his collegiate career with the Crusaders this fall.
