Friday, April 4, 2003
Valparaiso swept all three doubles matches, but failed to win a singles contest as Wright State defeated the Crusaders 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Northwest Athletic Club.

The Crusaders opened winning the doubles point in convincing fashion. Ben Dunham-Freer (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands H.S.) teamed with Jeff Vrabel (Allen Park, Mich./St. Francis Cabrini H.S.) for an 8-4 win at first doubles. Chris Widmeyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller H.S.) and Mike Menghini (Iron Mountain, Mich./Iron Mountain H.S.) cruised to an 8-3 victory at the second spot. The third doubles team of Tyler Neemann (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson H.S.) and Nate Gordon (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth H.S.) completed the sweep with an 8-5 win.

In singles action the Raiders rebounded, sweeping all six matches. Dunham-Freer pushed his match to three sets at the top spot before falling 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, while all the other matches were decided in straight sets.

The Crusaders match that was slated for Eastern Illinois has been cancelled, so Valpo (2-9) will return to action on Tuesday at home against Butler. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
