Kooyers Named Player of the Week for Third Time

Valparaiso University's Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference men's tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season.

The freshman won two of his three singles matches to conclude the Crusaders spring trip in Florida at the second spot in the lineup, while also posting a number two doubles win.

In singles play, he opened the week dropping a tough three-set match to Stetson before registering straight sets wins over Eastern Kentucky 7-6, 7-5 and Bethune-Cookman 7-5, 6-2.

In doubles play with Joe Venegas (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North H.S.) they teamed for an 8-5 win over Bethune-Cookman.

Kooyers also earned the weekly honor on Oct. 28 and Feb. 3.
