Crusaders Fall to Butler in Final Non-Conference Tilt

Valparaiso wrapped up the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday afternoon dropping a 7-0 decision to Butler at Brown Courts in the Crusaders' final non-conference match of the season.

The Bulldogs opened taking two of the three doubles contests to secure the first point. Valpo's Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) and Shabbi Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Oasys H.S.) posted an 8-6 win at the second spot. However, Butler won at both one and three doubles.

In singles action, Butler (11-12) won the at top four spots and at sixth singles in straight sets. David Bukowski (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect H.S.) won his opening set at fifth singles before falling in a third-set tie-break 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-6.

Valparaiso (3-11) will open Mid-Continent Conference action on Friday in cluster action in Kansas City, Mo. The Crusaders will face Oral Roberts at 9 a.m. and battle Western Illinois at 1 p.m.
