Shutout Loss to Wright State Snaps Valpo's Five Match Winning Streak
Junior Eric Honert dropped his No. 1 singles match to Hayden Joblin 6-3, 7-6 Sunday in Dayton.

Just a few hours after the women's tennis team opened Horizon League play with a 7-0 loss to Wright State, the men's team suffered the same fate in Dayton.

Freshmen Michael Baiocchi and Michael Savaglio dropped their match at No. 3 doubles 8-3 before Eric Honert and Lucas Waak lost 8-2 at No. 1 doubles to lose the doubles point to the Raiders.

Wright State (11-9, 2-0) won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to its fifth straight victory.

The losses at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles clinched an ending to Valpo's season-best five match winning streak.

Valparaiso (9-6, 0-1) will look to begin a new streak next Friday at home against the Green Bay Phoenix (9-6).  The match will be Green Bay's first in conference play.
