Freshman Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week Monday.

In two singles matches last week, Emhardt defeated Detroit's Ismail Kadyrov 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 on Friday before knocking off #12 Notre Dame's Alex Lawson 6-3, 7-5 on Sunday at No. 4. The freshman has been victorious 15 times in his last 16 singles matches.

Emhardt has been just as good - if not better - in doubles play.

Along with doubles partner Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg), Emhardt has won 16 consecutive matches, a streak that began on February 8th. On Friday, the duo beat Kadyrov and Jay Joshi 8-1. On Sunday, Emhardt and Schorsch provided the lone victory for Valpo in doubles play with an 8-4 defeat of #12 Notre Dame's Dougie Barnard/Matt Dooley.

The Crusaders (16-7, 2-2 Horizon) return to the court Tuesday to face Chicago State (5-20) at 2:00 pm in Homewood, Illinois.
