Freshman Garrett Gardner (Poland, Ohio/Poland) was named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week Tuesday. Gardner was instrumental in the Crusaders' 5-2 victory over Toledo on Saturday.

The rookie made quick work of Garrett Cona at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2. The singles win came after Gardner and Lucas Waak (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) collected a 6-4 triumph over the Rockets' Omar Espinoza/Roberto Meza at No. 3 doubles.

Gardner and the Crusaders return to the court this weekend for a pair of home matches. The Brown and Gold welcome IPFW to the Courts of NWI on Friday at 2 pm before entertaining IUPUI on Saturday at 2:30 pm.
