Emhardt, Schorsch Continue to Climb ITA Rankings
Jeffrey Schorsch plays No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for Valpo.

The good news just keeps coming for the Valparaiso University men’s tennis program.

A day after sweeping the Horizon League’s weekly awards, Valpo received more positive attention as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its latest batch of Oracle/ITA collegiate singles and doubles rankings on Wednesday. The team’s top doubles duo of Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg) and Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind.  / Carmel) continued to climb the national rankings.

Schorsch and Emhardt have cracked the Top 10 and are now ranked eighth in the nation. They jumped nine spots from their previous ranking of No. 17. The Crusader pair is 13-5 overall and 3-1 in dual matches this spring. The two players rank first and second in Valpo history in career doubles wins, and Emhardt’s next victory will make him the first player in program history with 100 career doubles triumphs.

Valpo (3-1) returns to the courts on Sunday in Kalamazoo, Mich. for a date with Western Michigan that is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Central Time.
