Kissell Reaches Second Round of Singles Main Draw


Junior Chad Kissell represented the Valparaiso University men’s tennis team on Saturday in the first two rounds of the ITA Midwest Regional singles main draw in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team had three of its four doubles teams competing at the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Friday prevail in their opening round matches. One doubles tandem notched a pair of victories and reached the third round of the event.


Men’s Tennis Begins Competition at ITA Midwest Regional


The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team had eight individuals compete in the qualifying singles draw at the ITA Midwest Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Thursday. Five Valpo players prevailed in the first round of qualifying. Senior Garrett Gardner won both of his matches on Thursday, advancing to Friday’s third round of the qualifying draw.

The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team enjoyed success up and down the lineup over the course of this weekend’s Valpo Fall Invitational, held at the Valpo Tennis Complex. The Crusaders put together a strong showing on Sunday, winning 14 of their 15 singles matches.


Men’s Tennis Enjoys Perfect Doubles Play on First Day of Home Tournament


The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team began its lone home event of the fall season on Saturday with the first day of the two-day Valpo Fall Invitational, held at the Valpo Tennis Complex. The event is using a hidden dual format, with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles taking place on Saturday. The Crusaders won all eight doubles matches and four of their seven singles matches to start the event with a winning day.


Langston, Pecyna Finish Perfect Weekends of Singles, Three Other Crusaders Prevail


Sophomores Daniel Langston (Ponca City, Okla. / Ponca City) and Brian Pecyna (Glen Ellyn, Ill. / Homeschooled) were the only Crusaders to enjoy a flawless weekend of singles play, as they were victorious for the third straight match on Sunday to help the Valparaiso University men’s tennis team take five of eight singles matches from host Western Michigan on the final day of the Western Michigan Invite in Kalamazoo. The Crusaders also competed in a pair of doubles duels – taking three of four from the University of Chicago while dropping three of four to Xavier.

The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team competed on the first day of the Western Michigan Invitational on Saturday in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Crusaders played the University of Chicago in Round 1 of singles, Xavier in Round 2 of singles and Western Michigan in doubles as the event followed a hidden dual format.


Three Crusaders Win Singles Championships in River Forest Invitational


The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team closed out the season-opening River Forest Invitational on Sunday in River Forest, Ill., utilizing three championship victories and six total singles wins to complete a strong performance on the first weekend of fall competition.

The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team enjoyed an immensely successful second day at the River Forest Invitational on Saturday, sweeping all nine singles matches while also garnering a doubles championship. Senior Garrett Gardner and freshman Kweisi Kenyatte finished their first tournament as doubles mates with a title, while five individuals will compete in singles championship matches on Sunday.


Men’s Tennis Begins Quest for Third Straight NCAA Appearance with Strong Showing


The Valparaiso University men’s tennis team took the court for the first time since the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Friday morning, beginning the fall campaign at the River Forest Invitational in River Forest, Ill. The Crusaders were one of eight teams in a field of schools from across the Midwest that also featured Eastern Illinois, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Saint Louis, UIC, Youngstown State and Detroit Mercy.
