Bartholomew Leads Valpo on First Day in Findlay

Valparaiso University's Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township H.S.) led the Crusader squad on Friday on the first day of the Findlay Indoor Track and Field Classic in Findlay, Ohio.

Bartholomew turned in a toss of 52'6" in the weight throw to finish fourth in a field of 54 competitors. The mark was a career best for the sophomore.

David Wheeler (Saint Charles, Ill./East H.S.) led Valpo on the track with a 22nd place finish in a field of 51 in the 5,000m run. The redshirt-junior finished with a time of 15:58.38.

Valpo's 4x800m relay finished seventh on the evening. The team of Bryan Gill (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City H.S.), Rich Krupar III (Eloyria, Ohio/Midview H.S.), Dustin Lawrence (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central H.S.), and Chris Martis (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake H.S.) crossed the line in 8:25.56.

The Crusaders will return to the oval on Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. CST.
