Crusaders Competed at Pacesetter Invitational over the Weekend

Valparaiso turned in a seventh place finish at the Pacesetter Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Crusaders scored five points in the event while Indiana State was crowned the meet champion at home.

Todd Goodrick (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester H.S.) finished seventh in the shot put for the Crusaders with a toss of 50'10" as the throwers led the way for the Brown and Gold in the meet. Eric Smith (Portage, Ind./Portage H.S.) finished eighth in the discus with a mark of 146'10", while Matt Larson (Arlington Heights, Ill./Saint Viator H.S.) continued to improve his school record in the hammer throw placing tenth with a heave of 161'5". Brett Maynard (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington H.S.) led the javelin throwers with a mark of 153'3".

On the track, Jeff Moscinski (Rockford, Ill./Christian Life H.S.) turned in Valpo's one of two top-ten finishes, placing seventh in the 400m dash. He crossed the finish line in a time of 51.82 seconds. Jeff Johnson (Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South H.S.) recorded the other, placing tenth in the 5,000m run with a time of 17:36.33.

Valpo will return to the oval on Friday night as the Crusaders compete in the Eastern Michigan Twilight Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. CDT in Ypsilanti, Mich.
