The honors continue to roll in for Crusader senior Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township), as the Horizon League announced today that he was named the league’s Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year.

Bartholomew earns the prestigious honor after his dominating indoor campaign in the weight throw.  The senior entered the season holding the school record in the event at 60’8 ¾” and proceeded to break his own mark on four separate occasions during the season, culminating in a league-record mark of 67’9 ¾” at the Horizon League Indoor Championships.

Bartholomew was named the Outstanding Field Performer at the Indoor Championships and advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships, where he placed 16th in the weight throw.  He was also named the Horizon League Athlete of the Week twice during the indoor season and Horizon League U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Week once.  In the ten meets that he competed in during the indoor campaign, Bartholomew won the weight throw seven times and placed in the top-ten on nine occasions.
