Valparaiso University's Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Week after helping the Crusaders go 3-1 last week, including a pair of league victories.

The junior won all four of his singles contests at the number one positions last week while adding a pair of doubles wins as Valpo started league play 2-1 and is tied for second place heading into the final weekend of Mid-Con action.

Kooyers has won six straight singles matches and 10 of his last 11 overall, while leading the team with 17 victories on the season. The weekly honor marks the third time he has earned the award this season, having already garnered Athlete of the Week accolades on Oct. 4 and Mar. 21.

Valpo (8-9, 2-1) will host the final Mid-Con cluster this weekend, beginning play with Centenary on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. All of the matches will be played at the Valparaiso University Tennis Complex.
