Crusaders Finish Day Two Strong at Fred Wilt Invitational
Anthony Franze sprints to a pair of top-12 finishes in the Fred Wilt Invitational.

The Valparaiso men’s track and field completed their penultimate meet before the Horizon League Indoor Championships at the Fred Wilt Invitational at Purdue on Saturday.

Ben Zibricky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) set the fourth fastest time in Valpo history in the 600 meter as he sprinted to the finish in 1:25.68 while also setting a personal best in the 400m (53.01).

Anthony Franze (Gunter, Texas) took ninth in 200m (23.44) and 12th in 60m (7.28), while Brandon Riley (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) finished in 10th in 200m (23.45) and 13th in 400m (51.20).

Sophomore Dan Walters (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) set a new season best in the 800m with his 10th place finish (2:02.05), while classmates Adam Bruno took 10th in the mile with his 4:22.91 and Max Morello (Plano, Ill./Plano) set a new season best in the 3000m with his 12th place finish (9:05.63).

Montell Hall (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) took sixth in the triple jump with his 11.82m/38-9.5 leap and Andrew Guzek (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) took 12th in the shot put with his toss of 13.98m/45-10.5.

The Crusaders return to the track next Saturday as they travel to Champaign, Ill. for the Orange and Blue Open. Field events are set to begin at 10:00 am Central time, with running events taking flight at noon.
