Getz, Drozdowski Qualify for East Preliminary Championships
Sarah Drozdowski will be making her first trip to the NCAA Preliminary Championship Round as she qualified in the hammer throw.

The record setting and far-throwing senior duo of Jeremy Getz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) will represent the Valparaiso track and field teams at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Championships.

Getz qualified in the men’s javelin with his mark of 64.84m/212-9, landing him in the top-48 in the region. He owns the school record and ranked first in the Horizon League this season, capturing the title at the league Outdoor Championship. This will be his second trip to the Preliminary round, as he qualified back in 2013.

Drozdowski qualified in the women’s hammer throw with her school record toss of 57.22m/187-9, landing her in the top-40 in the region for her first trip to the Preliminary round. At the league Outdoor Championship, she was named Athlete of the Year and Field Performer of the Meet following her title in the hammer while taking second in the shot put, third in the javelin, and sixth in the discus.

The NCAA East Preliminary Championships will be held May 28-30 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The top twelve competitors from each individual event will advance from each Preliminary site to the National Championships at the University of Oregon on June 10-13 at historic Hayward Field.

Getz will compete on Friday, May 29, at 11:00 am CT while Drozdowski will take the field on Saturday, May 30, at 12:30 pm. Links to live results will be available on
