Maidment Earns All-MVC Honors to Highlight Day 2 of Track & Field Championships
Will Maidment had Valpo's best outdoor high jump since 1998 on Saturday.

Will Maidment (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) earned all-Missouri Valley Conference honors in the men’s high jump to lead the Valparaiso University track & field teams on the second day of the MVC Championships in Carbondale, Ill. Maidment’s mark tied for third in program history and ranked third in the event.  

How It Happened

  • Maidment placed third in the high jump with a height of 2.03 meters (6-8), which established a new personal record and tied for third in program history. He recorded Valpo’s best outdoor high jump since Mark Massey’s 6-8 in 1998.
  • Michelle Pierce (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) placed 14th in the shot put, throwing for a distance of 11.46m (37-7.25).
  • Tyler Howard (Schenectady, N.Y. / Guilderland) competed in the 400-meter dash semifinals, clocking a 59.39 time.
  • Jared Humphrey (Hobart, Ind./Andrean) placed 11th in the semifinals of the 400 hurdles with a 56.35 time.
  • Brady Southern (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) completed the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:11.95.
