Valparaiso swept every match from Olivet Nazarene on Monday afternoon at Brown Courts to record a 9-0 victory over the Tigers.
Valpo began by winning all three doubles matches. Monika Danko (Northfield, Ill./New Trier H.S.) and Christina Scala (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South H.S.) teamed for an 8-5 win at the top spot, while Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) and Patricia Arakaki (Campo Grande, Brazil/LaPorte H.S., Ind.) were 8-3 winners at second doubles. Jill Dierberg (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S.) and Charmane Stanislaw (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville H.S.) finished doubles off with an 8-3 win.
In singles action, the Crusaders won all six matches in straight sets. Sonkin registered a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the top spot, while Danko won by an identical score at second singles. Scala won easily 6-0, 6-0 at third singles and Dierberg recorded a 6-2, 7-6 (6) win at the fourth spot. Arakaki cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at number five singles, while Stanislaw rounded out the action with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory.
Valpo will return to action on Friday morning when the Crusaders face Chicago State in a 9 a.m. match in the Windy City.
