For the first time in school history the Valparaiso volleyball team is off to a 4-0 start after defeating Fordham 30-25, 30-22, 30-28 late Saturday evening in Fullerton, Calif. to win the Titan Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton.
The Crusaders, which lost just one game in the entire tournament, hit .415 with 19 kills and just two errors in the middle game on the way to the victory. For the match, Valpo hit .250 compared with the Rams .169 and outdug Fordham 63-58.
Lauren Moulton (Elgin, Ill./Larkin H.S.) led the Crusaders with 13 kills while hitting .370 for the match, while Michelle Robinson (Bloomington, Ill./Normal H.S.) added ten kills.
Cyndi Norman (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) dished out 40 assists for the Brown and Gold, while also registering 11 digs. Jessi Novak (Antigo, Wis./Antigo H.S.) also recorded 11 digs for Valpo.
Roxanne Hill led Fordham (1-3) with 12 kills while Lindsey Lofstedt added ten.
The Crusaders (4-0) will look to remain perfect on their season-opening road trip Monday evening when they travel to UC Riverside for a 9 p.m. CDT contest.
