Valparaiso University basketball player Kenny Harris was transferred by ambulance Wednesday morning (April 20) from the Intensive Care Unit of Porter's Valparaiso Hospital Campus to the Neuro-ICU at the University of Chicago Hospitals. According to Porter officials, his condition is still critical and has not changed from the time of admission. Harris, a sophomore, was admitted to Porter's Valparaiso Hospital campus April 11 after collapsing while participating in supervised weight training exercises.

Harris' parents express their deepest appreciation to the medical staff at Porter for its loving care of their son and for its support of the family. They continue to find comfort in the outpouring of affection and prayers from the Northwest Indiana community.

Harris will undergo additional testing and monitoring at the Neuro-ICU at the University of Chicago Hospitals. The Neuro-ICU is a 10-bed unit staffed by a multidisciplinary team of specially trained physicians, nurses and therapists. It is the only such facility in the Chicago area.
