Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) ran into a tough qualifying draw at the ITA Midwest Championships on Thursday morning in East Lansing, Mich., dropping a pair of matches to Big Ten opponents.

The junior fell 6-3, 6-0 in her first match of the day to Allie Shafner of Michigan before dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Ciara Finucane of Ohio State.

Janssen was the only Valparaiso representative at the event. The Crusaders' fall tennis season has now come to a close.
