Thursday, April 27, 2006

Valparaiso University Head Men's Soccer Coach Mis' Mrak today announced Richard Jones has been named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach.

Jones comes to Valpo with a variety of coaching experience, including a two-year stint from 2000-01 as a student assistant at IUPUI. In 2000, Jones and the Jaguars captured the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament Title and participated in the NCAA Tournament.

Since 2004, Jones has served as Head Coach for the '89 Boys Indy Burn Inter club team out of Indianapolis, leading his squad to a berth in the 2005 State Cup quarterfinals and the Kalamazoo Invitational Soccer Showcase Championship. Jones is also on staff with the Indiana Olympic Development Program.

Last season, Jones completed his second year as an assistant coach at Warren Central High School in Indianapolis.

Jones played collegiately at NCAA Division III Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. from 1996-98, making three appearances on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Jones replaces Roberto Giannini, now Head Men's Soccer Coach at Wabash College, on the Crusader staff.
