Valparaiso sits in fifth place after the first day of action Friday at the Pacesetter Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
Julie Flowers (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson H.S.) led the Crusaders in the shot put, recording a mark of 31'8".
Amanda Hyttel (Racine, Wis./William Horlick H.S.) paced the Brown and Gold with her effort of 95'11" in the hammer throw.
Action continues Saturday on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute, with the first events beginning at 11:00 a.m. CDT.
