Valparaiso University will host the 2007 Mid-Continent Conference Women's Tennis Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Valparaiso University Tennis Complex. The two-time defending tournament champion Crusaders will serve as the tournament's third seed and face second-seeded IUPUI on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the semifinals.
The tournament's top seed, and regular season champion, Oral Roberts will meet Western Illinois, the fourth seed, in Friday's second semifinal contest at 2 p.m. with the winners meeting on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for the conference title as well as the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Valpo (11-9, 5-2 Mid-Con) and IUPUI (14-4, 6-1) met in a close, 4-3 decision won by the Jaguars, back on April 6 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Crusaders fell 6-0 to Oral Roberts (10-10, 7-0) earlier this year while defeating Western Illinois (11-8, 4-3) 5-2 this past Sunday.
Admission to the championships is free. In the event of inclement weather, the matches will be moved indoors to Matchpoint Tennis Club in Griffith, Ind.
