Valparaiso University head men’s tennis coach Jim Daugherty has announced the signing of Adam Whitmer to a National Letter of Intent to join the Crusader program in the fall of 2008.

Whitmer, a native of Shipshewana, Ind., he finished the season with a 23-3 record at Westview High School in singles play.  A Second Team All-State selection, he also finished fourth in the district.  Whitmer was an All-Northeast Area selection and named Area Player of the Year for the third straight season.

He finished his prep career with a 90-12 record, leading Westview to four straight conference and sectional times.  Whitmer also helped lead his team to their first regional appearance in school history, and they finished 10th in the state.

“Adam is a very solid player with a great work ethic,” Daugherty said.  “I believe he will make an immediate impact on our program.”
