Valparaiso University’s Zach Rodeghero (New Lenox, Ill./Providence Catholic H.S.) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Mideast Region Second Team.

Rodeghero, a fifth-year senior, was the only Horizon League player to earn All-Region accolades this season.

Rodeghero finished the season hitting .418, becoming the first Crusader since Tom Delattre in 1981 to hit .400 in a season.  He set the single season record at Valpo for hits (92), tied the doubles mark (21), and was two runs (53) shy of the school mark.

One of the final 64 players on the Wallace Watch list for national player of the year, he won the Horizon League batting title and led the league in hits.  Rodeghero was second in the conference in on base percentage (.490), third in runs batted in (54), fourth in slugging percentage (.577) and doubles and walks (27), and fifth in runs scored.

Rodeghero finished his career at Valpo with a .369 batting average.
