A flurry of sporting events is slated for this weekend, culminating in Communiversity Day.  The ValparaiZone will have plenty of exciting opportunities to catch the first football game of the season and check out the volleyball team as they host a tournament right here at the ARC.

The festivities kick off 11:30 a.m. on Friday as the volleyball team plays their first game hosting the Marriott Volley Brawl as they take on Murray State.  The Crusaders will be back in action for the primetime nightcap at 7:00 p.m. against Ball State.

With the privilege of hosting the volleyball tournament, the Crusaders are definitely looking for a great turnout to secure their home-field advantage.  If you have a light class load on Friday afternoon, there is no better way to find entertainment than watching a little volleyball as Valpo is off to a great 3-1 start (including a victory over West Virginia).  Moreover, the student section will need to be in full swing Friday night as the in-state rival and the always competitive Ball State Cardinals come to town.

The Crusader volleyball team also initiates a full schedule of events for Communiversity Day as they continue their tournament action with a Saturday doubleheader.  Valpo begins with an 11:30 a.m. match versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and concludes their tournament play as they take on Evansville at 4: 30 p.m.  These matches will provide a great lead up to the Crusader football home opener and quenches your Valpo athletic desires.

Immediately after the volleyball matches, students can head over to Brown Field to check out the newly unveiled tailgating area before Valpo takes on Franklin at 7:00 p.m. under the lights of Brown Field.  The new tailgate area behind the east endzone will provide students with all the amenities to ensure a rowdy pregame party that will continue throughout the whole game.  Whether you are amping up for the game or are just looking for a place to hang out with friends, the tailgating area will satisfy all your needs, including but not limited to various activities such as Bags and giant Jenga.

Also, remember that attending each game and swiping your ID card at the ValparaiZone student section tent will earn you points for the Victory Bell Rewards Program.  As students rack up points, they will begin receiving a slew of great prizes, starting with a free ValparaiZone student section T-shirt for the initial Level I point total.
