The Valparaiso men's swim team recorded split results on Friday evening, defeating Butler 59-36 while falling to Ball State 53-34 in Muncie, Ind.

Neal Badgett was victorious for the Brown and Gold in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:05.80.

Mike Hermes continued his successful season in the 100 breaststroke, winning the event with a time of 1:01.84.

The Crusaders 200 free relay also registered a win for Valpo as Sean Conrin, Bob Schmidt, Edward Chester, and David Kesler finished with a time of 1:30.04.

Valpo will return to the pool on Saturday as the Brown and Gold travel to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami (Ohio) and Xavier.
