Valparaiso University freshman Nate Hyde (South Bend, Ind./Clay H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Crusaders shutout IUPUI in their conference opener.

Hyde helped the Brown and Gold post their third shutout of the season and added the Crusaders insurance goal in a 2-0 victory over the Jaguars. The tally was the rookie's first career goal.

Valpo will host Oral Roberts this Friday at Eastgate Field with kickoff slated for 4 p.m.
