Valparaiso University's David Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Week in men's swimming and diving.

The freshman posted a pair of victories for the Crusaders in Friday's meet at Ball State. Peterson posted a 1.53 second win in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.81, then came back and won the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:15.39.

Sunday in a double-dual against Saint Louis and Butler, the rookie finished third in the 200 IM (2:02.56), while earning a runner-up finish in the 200 breast with a mark of 1:02.36.

Peterson is the second Crusader freshman to earn the honor this season, as Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) received the award on November 4.
