For the fifth time during her career at Valparaiso University, Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference women's tennis Athlete of the Week.

Sonkin, a senior, won all four of her singles matches last weekend to lift the Crusaders to their first Mid-Con regular season title in school history. After winning a three-set match against IUPUI, she defeated opponents from UMKC, Southern Utah, and Chicago State to finish 7-1 overall in Mid-Con play at number one singles.

Sonkin also earned the honor twice last season and twice as a sophomore.
