Valparaiso University's Joe Venegas (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, marking the third time in four weeks a Crusader has earned the award.

The freshman kept Valpo in the match against Dayton last Friday evening that the Crusaders eventually dropped by a narrow 4-3 margin. In singles play, he notched a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the third spot, and teamed with Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) for an 8-5 triumph at second doubles, Valpo's lone doubles win.

Venegas follows Ben Dunham-Freer's (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands H.S.) award last week and Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.) from February 3. Valpo has earned a total of six honors this season.
