Giancola finished with 174 receiving yards on five receptions. Nick Reid also had a big performance, rushing for 121 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries. Bill Marshall made five tackles, including one for a loss.

Valpo's Sturman Named
PFL Defensive Player of the Week

Valparaiso University's Brandon Sturman was selected as the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Crusaders' 41-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday. Sturman, a junior middle linebacker from Brookeville, Md./Sherwood, scored Valpo's first points, returning an interception 16 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. The interception was Sturman's second in as many games. Sturman added a pass breakup and made three tackles against Wisconsin Lutheran.

Giancola Becomes Valpo's All-Time Leader In Receiving Yards

Rob Giancola became Valpo's all-time leader in receiving yards during the first half of last Saturday's 41-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran. Giancola, who now holds 10 Valpo records, has 3,231 receiving yards, surpassing Mike Healey's mark of 3,212 set from 1982-85. A senior from Whiting, Ind./HS, Giancola eclipsed the mark with 106 yards in the first half. He broke the record with a 39-yard catch that set up Nick Reid's touchdown. Giancola finished the game with five receptions for 119 yards.
