Taylor Named Special Teams Coordinator at Valpo
Tuesday, December 06, 2005Valparaiso University head football coach Stacy Adams has announced that Chip Taylor is returning to the Crusader football program as the special team coordinator and secondary coach.
Taylor returns to Valpo after serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 2003 and 2004 seasons where he helped to guide the wide receivers as well as served as the team's video coordinator. He was a member of Valpo's coaching staff during the 2003 Pioneer Football League championship season.
During this past season, he served as an assistant coach and video coordinator at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where the team went 5-5. He also oversaw the kickoff return team.
Taylor was a wide receiver and a cornerback at Illinois State University where he helped guide the Redbirds to two NCAA playoff appearances, including a trip to the national semifinals in 1999.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in physical education from Illinois State in 2002 and received his Master's degree in sports administration from Valparaiso in 2005.
?Coach Taylor will bring a well-needed spark to our defense," Adams said. ?His ability to teach and coach will go a long way with our young players. It is always easier to bring back someone who knows the program and the university's expectations."
Taylor will begin his full-time duties immediately.
