Three Crusader athletes combined to post six top-10 finishes Saturday as the Valpo women's track and field team kicked off its indoor slate at Illinois State's Earlybird Invitational.

Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) led the way for Valpo Saturday, posting three top-10 finishes. Body registered a runner-up finish in the triple jump, leaping 36', and came in third place in the long jump, with an effort of 17'2". She also showcased her sprinting ability, coming home fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 8.07 seconds. Her qualifying time of 7.99 seconds is the third-best time in the event in Crusader history.

Freshman Lakisha Lane (Topeka, Kan./Highland Park) had a stellar showing in her debut meet as a Crusader. Lane placed fourth in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line in 9.27 seconds, second-best all-time at Valpo. She also came home seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 26.95 seconds.

Emilie Marsicek (Spalding, Mich./Carney-Nadeau) tallied a top-10 finish of her own. Marsicek registered a toss of 42'8" in the shot put, good for fourth place.

Valparaiso returns to the track on Saturday, January 20 as the Crusaders take part in the Chicagoland Invitational. The first event is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
