Senior Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) shattered her own school record in the 200m dash for the second straight week and also ran the fastest time in school history in the 100m dash as the Valparaiso women’s track and field team competed Saturday at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.

Body, who lowered her own mark in the 200m dash last week at the Dave Rankin Invitational, absolutely demolished her time on Saturday.  The senior crossed the line in 24.67 seconds en route to a fourth-place finish, besting her own previous time by 39-hundredths of a second.  The time is also nearly a full second faster than any other Crusader in program history in the event.

Body also ran to a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash, completing the race in 12.19 seconds.  The time is the fastest ever run by a Crusader in the event, but will not go down as an official record due to the wind speed being above the maximum allowable tailwind for a record run.  She also placed 11th in the long jump Saturday with a leap of 17’6”.

Junior Sara Christensen (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) also recorded a top-ten finish for the Crusaders on Saturday.  Christensen ran to an eighth-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 12:06.50.

Valparaiso moves on to the Horizon League Outdoor Championships next weekend in Lisle, Ill.  The three-day meet kicks off Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m.
