Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) took third-place in the 5000-meter run to leads the Valparaiso women’s track team at the Mike Lints Alumni Open held at Grand Valley State University.

Richardson crossed the line with a time of 17:51.17.

Elsewhere on the track, Nicole Zehel (Wixom, Mich./Lutheran Westland) took eighth in the 800-meter run, finishing in a time of 2:21.46.

In the field events, Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took fifth in the high jump, clearing 5’ ½”, and Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) cleared 10’4” in the pole vault to finish seventh.

Brooke Hinstorff (Waterloo, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) finished eighth in the triple jump with a  best leap of 30’9 1/4”.

Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) placed fifth in the shot put (41’ ¼”) and eighth in the weight throw (53’ 7 ½”).

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the IPFW Quadrangular in Fort Wayne, Ind.
