One of Valparaiso
baseball’s top weekend starting pitchers, senior Alex Berry is having his best
season for the Crusaders. Carrying a
4.22 ERA in 53.1 innings pitched, Berry provides Valpo Baseball with the
consistent performance and leadership needed to compete in the Horizon League.
He ranks among the top-10 in the Horizon League in ERA,
opponents batting average, innings pitched, and strikeouts this season.
“Alex is a hard worker dedicated to being successful in
whatever task he takes on,” head coach Tracy Woodson said. “We appreciate his leadership and commitment
to Valpo baseball.”
Selected as a captain by his teammates, Berry leads the
Crusaders both on the field and in the classroom. An Academic All-Conference selection in 2008, Berry was also named to
the Horizon League Honor Roll last fall.
The Olney, Illinois
native maintains a 3.3 GPA in finance and will graduate this May with plans on
pursuing his MBA next fall.
