Valparaiso sophomore guard Brandon Wood (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo [Highland C.C./Southern Illinois]) represented the Crusaders on the Legends Classic Statesboro Subregional All-Tournament Team, as announced following the conclusion of the weekend’s action.

Wood averaged a subregional-best 23.3 PPG over the weekend’s three games while connecting at a 60% clip from the floor and also grabbing 6.7 RPG.  He kicked off the weekend with a 39-point performance in Valpo’s win over Georgia Southern, the most points by a Crusader player in at least 20 years.  Wood connected on 13-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the win over the Eagles and ripped down a game-best nine rebounds as well.

On Saturday, Wood connected on four triples en route to a game-best 19 points against Troy.  The sophomore closed out action on Sunday with 12 points, all in the second half, against Arkansas-Fort Smith to go with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.  He currently leads the league with 23.0 PPG on the season, more than four points per game higher than anybody else in the league.  Wood also ranks sixth in the league in 3-pointers made (2.4/game) and seventh in field goal percentage (.509).

Wood was joined on the Subregional All-Tournament Team by Antonio Hanson (Georgia Southern), Brandon Hazzard (Troy), Willie Powers III (Georgia Southern) and Josh Simmons (Arkansas-Fort Smith).  Powers was named the MVP of the subregional.
