Valparaiso University’s Nate Blair (Crete, Ill./Andrean [Ind.] H.S.) and Nikko Carson (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township H.S.) have both been named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Pioneer Football League Second Team.

Blair, a junior offensive lineman, started all 11 games for the Crusaders at left tackle last season, helping to anchor the Valpo offensive line.  He earned Honorable Mention All-PFL honors for the Brown and Gold in 2009.

Carson, a junior defensive lineman, had 43 tackles, including a team-best 11 for loss.  He had five sacks, forced a fumble, and recovered another.  He also was an Honorable Mention All-PFL selection, and has recorded 71 total tackles, including 14 for loss during his first two years at Valpo.

Phil Steele annually produces a complete college football preview, including every NCAA I-FCS conference and school.  The complete preseason all-conference selections can be found in his various publications as well as at www.philsteele.com.
