Kim Smith was named the assistant director of athletics for compliance in May of 2012.

In her role, Smith works directly with the NCAA and the Horizon League on eligibility, NCAA reporting, and financial aid, as well as rules knowledge and education. She is also responsible for monitoring all athletics programs.  Smith is also the sport administrator for men's soccer, men's tennis and men's and women's swimming and diving.

A 2001 graduate of Valparaiso University with a degree in sports management, Smith returned to her alma mater in 2012 after spending three years as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Old Dominion University in Virginia. In this role, Smith assisted in overseeing all aspects of the compliance office, including the management of NCAA and CAA compliance records for all intercollegiate programs, monitoring the eligibility of current student-athletes, and the maintenance of all compliance materials for the athletic department.

Prior to Old Dominion, Smith was the Assistant to the Director of Compliance for one year at the University of Evansville. She was also Evansville’s assistant coach of the men’s and women’s swim teams for two years before taking on her role within compliance.

In 2007, Smith earned her master’s degree from the University of Evansville in public service administration.
