Nelson Named Assistant Softball Coach

Valparaiso University head softball coach Randy Schneider has announced the addition of Kari Nelson as an assistant coach for the Crusaders.

Nelson arrives at Valpo after serving as the head softball coach at Washington Township High School for the past two seasons. Prior to Washington Township, she had served as an assistant coach at Portage High School, where she had prior experience as a junior varsity and freshman coach.

Nelson played softball for the Crusaders from 1996-1999 where she was a four-time All Mid-Continent Conference Team selection for Valpo. She is the Brown and Gold's all-time career hits and doubles leader. She also holds the Crusaders' single season record hitting .423 in 1998.
