Valparaiso University's Chris Halstead (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Pitcher of the Week after recording three victories including a pair of conference shutouts last week.
The freshman posted a 0.27 ERA, allowing just one earned run, in 26 innings of work. She allowed just three walks and struck out 12 in four appearances. She three complete game shutouts against IUPUI twice over the weekend and also tossed five innings of shutout ball against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) earlier in the week. In her lone loss, she allowed just two runs, only one of which was earned, against DePaul.
Halstead is the first Crusader hurler to earn the honor this season.
